Cardross Glass, New Public Art in Brixton

Cardross Glass recently completed a large mural in a vacant window above Sainsbury's on Brixton High Street.
The installation is described as an expressionist interpretation of the lost River Effra, which used to flow through Brixton.
The design was selected by consultation will the local community.

The artwork covers the inside face of the sloping glass wall, that extends over the whole width of the shop front below.

The space for this piece was provided to the community by Sainsbury's, as part of a scheme to introduce artworks into the urban environment.

The installation of the artwork, including scaffolding the sloping  interior of the glass, was supervised by Robin Osmani.
